Stuart
Horodner
has recently become the director of the gallery at the Atlanta
College of Art. His most recent exhibition is “Contemporary Erotic
Drawing,” in association with Diverseworks Artspace (Houston) and
the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art (Ridgefiled, CT). Stuart was the
visual arts curator at the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art from
2001-2004, where he developed exhibitions with William Pope.L, Tony Tasset,
Melanie Manchot, and Luca Buvoli. He was co-owner and director of the
Horodner Romley Gallery in NYC (1992-96), and was director of the Bucknell
University Art Gallery in Lewisburg, PA (1998-2001); and he has contributed
art writing to journals and magazines including Bomb, Dazed & Confused,
Art Issues, Sculpture, and New Observations. Currently, he teaches at
the Pacific Northwest College of Art and Portland State University.
Laurel Gitlen
is the owner and director of Small
A Projects, a new contemporary art space in Portland. In 2004,
she was director of Savage Art Resources where she developed exhibitions
and site-specific projects with artists including Dave McKenzie, Chris
Caccamise, Doug Morris and Andy Coolquitt. She is also a freelance critic
and curator who has contributed to publications including The Organ, TEN
by TEN, and The Magazine, and an adjunct professor at Portland State University.
She has worked as an Assistant Curator at the American Federation
of Arts and as an Editorial Assistant at SITE Santa Fe. Laurel received
her MA from the University of Chicago.
